The Universe Bitch Slapped Me

aI love live music because it’s one of the places where I realized that it’s ok to be my true-authentic-weird-wild-free-sparkle fairy self. Because I let her out at festivals I slowly started to realize she was safe to come out everyday. I started small with tie dye bras under my practical teacher shirts. I had a dreadlock brewing under my professional cheerleader hair.

The day I tore my ACL tumbling for the NY Knicks Continue reading

Les Claypool Rocked My Weird

When I think of Les Claypool I can’t help but smile. He is so unapologetically authentically weird-wild-silly-light and dark all at the same time. I love all of those parts of Les because they are the essence of who he is to the core.  Most of his bass driven music sounds a little like a freaky dark soundtrack to a fabulously crazy scary fairytale. Les showed us his take on what he thinks the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory soundtrack should sound like with his band Primus’s latest album Primus and the Chocolate Factory.  And then he took it on the road for our hearing and viewing pleasures.

My senses were treated to the Primus and the Chocolate Factory tour at the Flynn Theater in Burlington, Vermont. When the curtain opened I was immediatly transported into the chocolate factory in Les’s mind. It was incredible. It looked like this:

How I Channeled John Lennon

John Lennon was one of the most famous dreamers of our time. Dreaming is awesome and important, but problems arise when we become all dreams and no action. I was so guilty of this. I was an epic dreamer. I got high speaking about all the great ideas I had, the things I was going to do, and all the fabulous places I was going to travel. When it came to actually doing something about making those dreams become a reality, I got scared and and it paralyzed me.  When obstacles pop up (which they always do if you’ve got big dreams), I came up with a million and one excuses (none of which were my fault) about why that dream didn’t pan out  and then quickly schemed up a new and exciting dream to talk about. All dreams and no action.

I experienced a false sense of joy and satisfaction because it wasn’t real. I was living in a fantasy world.

By being a dreamer with no action,  I also experienced harsh feelings of failure and often felt lost in the world. It was much easier to float above the clouds and start dreaming again. If you are like me and are a badass rebel, you will more than likely Continue reading

You May Be Right. I May Be Crazy.

If there’s one book you should read (besides mine slated to release in February) it’s The 4 Agreements by Miguel Ruiz.

Today we’re going to talk about the second agreement, Don’t Take Anything Personally.”

This one is one of the hardest agreements for most people to master and let me tell you…I’m still working on this one. It’s a doozy!

You may be totally right. I may be totally crazy…but if I am immune to opinions and actions of others then I won’t become the victim of needless suffering by obsessing on whether or not you think I’m crazy.

I put myself out in the world on a daily basis by sharing videos, photos and words. Sometimes people say really nice things and sometimes people are just downright mean. Some of the negative comments I’ve received looked like this:

“You would look better with a bag over your head.”

“Her only talent is breathing.” (On a video of me dancing)

“Taraleigh Weathers is friggin annoying.”

“Are you kidding me with this sh*t.”

You get the point. People can be mean. A couple of years ago these comments would have crushed me. I would have forgotten about all the positive feedback I received and focused on these worrying whether or not I was ugly, annoying and had any talent. Since I read The 4 Agreements I looked at those comments in a different light.

“Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality.”

Maybe those people were jealous. Maybe they were bored. I don’t know what motivated them take the time and energy to try to tear me down, but it’s ALL about them and not at ALL about me. People who are happy wouldn’t write these things about someone they don’t even know in real life. It’s obvious they’re suffering and I feel compassion for them and forgive them. Knowing it has nothing to do with me allows me to move on. It allows me to be immune to the opinions and actions of others and kept me from being the victim of needless suffering.

The same goes when I get positive feedback. I won’t let all the awesome things you all say about me go to my head because nothing others do is because of me. It’s pretty arrogant to think what others say and do is all about me. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality…so if you are taking the time to give someone positive feedback it is a projection of your own reality. If you find yourself trolling message boards and leaving mean comments about people think about what that means about you…since it’s ALL about YOU and YOUR Reality.

Don’t give a flying fart what others think of you and you’ll be free to be you in all your freaky glory.  <<<Tweet this

Is this concept hard for you to put into practice? I totally get it. I get a lot of support around this since I’m a human being and as a human I have an ego.

What are you taking personally right now? How can you apply this agreement to the situation? Let’s talk about it. Join the conversation.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I’m grateful for you.

Love and light,

10 Practical Ways to Raise Your Positive Vibrations

Every thought or feeling has a vibration that can be measured. The reason you want to raise these vibrations is to become high enough to connect to the power of intention. That place is the sweet spot where you feel joy and happiness, and your dream life will become your reality.
Perhaps Dr. Wayne Dryer put it best in his bookThe Power of Intention: “What you may fail to see inside is a result of how you choose to process everything and everyone in your world. You project onto the world what you see inside, and you fail to project into the world what you fail to see inside. If you knew that you were an expression of the universal spirit of intention, that’s what you’d see. You’d raise your energy level beyond any possibility of encumbrances to your connection to the power of intention. It is only discord acting within your own feelings that will ever deprive you of every good thing that life holds for you! If you understand this simple observation, you’ll curb interferences to intention.”
Wayne, you are awesome and you raise some wonderful points.

You Are Invited to My Phishy Garden Joy Party

newsletter sign up

This morning my friend Cora told me that she was having a conversation with God/the Universe and asked him what to do.  She was feeling very low on energy and he simply said.  You need to have more fun and hang out with your friends.  He also said that she needed to talk to me.  I also have conversations with God/the Universe in the morning and this morning I asked him how I could help people to have more fun in their lives and he simply said, “Dance with them.”  I immediately asked him to dance with me and we had a lot of fun dancing to Carly Rae Jepson’s “Call Me Maybe” while I made my bed.

After I got dressed and went downstairs I felt called to make a video for you all.  I knew I wanted to dance with you to “Garden Party” from Phish NYE at Madison Square Garden.  Watch the video to find out why I picked that song.  So…if you want to have some fun today, dance with me 🙂  I would be honored <3

Movie Lessons

Soul Surfer:  “Don’t take any wave that comes along. The greatest surfers all had this 6th sense. They knew when all the best waves were coming. They can feel it. It’s a gift. You have that gift.”

Lesson:  We all have that gift. Don’t just take any wave life gives you if it doesn’t feel right. If it doesn’t feel like your wave, wait. Be patient. Your wave is out there waiting for you to ride it and you’ll miss it if you are busy catching the wrong waves.

Thelma and Louise:  “You get what you settle for.”

Lesson:  What we put our attention on is what we attract into our lives. If we put our attention on what we don’t want we will get more of it.  Where do you want to focus your attention?  What you want or what you don’t want?  The choice is yours.

The Pursuit of Happiness: “You got a dream, you got to protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they want to tell you that you can’t do it. You want something? Go get it. Period.”

Lesson:  When people feel insecure or threatened by your greatness, they may try to bring you down.  Don’t listen to those people.  If you want something…don’t let anyone or anything stop you.  This is your dream.  Not theirs.  Go get it.  Start now.

Harold and Maude:  “A lot of people enjoy being dead. But they are not dead, really. They’re just backing away from life. Reach out. Take achance. Get hurt even. But play as well as you can. Go team, go! Give me an L. Give me an I. Give me a V. Give me an E. L-I-V-E. LIVE! Otherwise, you got nothing to talk about in the locker room.”

Lesson:  Wake up and live!  Don’t be afraid to succeed.  You may get hurt.  You may fail.  It doesn’t matter.  Hurt and failure is way better than never trying.

Hitch:  “Life is not the amount of breaths you take. It’s the moments that take your breath away.”

Lesson:  Don’t play safe.

Almost Famous:  “It’s all happening!”

Lesson:  Open your eyes.  It’s all happening right now in this very moment.
